CSA Help please!

Options
Hi

I am writing on behalf of a friend. Her daughter is now 15 months old, her partner left her when she became pregnant he has never seen his daughter since she was born.
He has been paying my friend volutarily £40 p week, he has another child ages 10 who he also pays for but does see.
He has been in touch and says he is now going through CSA and wants a DNA test to prove her child is his.
The child is can anyone tell me what he will have to pay when this does go through CSA

Many thanks
sam

Through the CSA he will have to pay 20% of his net pay which will then be split 50/50 to each mother. Your friend will receive the full 10% assuming he does not have any children in his household and continues not to have contact with your friends child.

He will have to pay whilst the DNA test is going on, he will have to pay for the DNA test to.

    Thanks Shoe Diva

My friend has just asked that because he is now living with another woman, she apparently has 2 teenagers of her own, will this affect her payments?

    Many thanks

Yes it will affect he will get a reduction of his net at 20% before the 20% is deducted from him, but make sure you ask for tax credits to be taken into consideration... Ot whatever the new things are now the benefit system has changed...

She might want to let him know that he CANNOT open a CSA case and then request a DNA test, that is my understanding anyway, if he opens the case paternity is assumed and that is the end of it...!

He can however refuse to pay and let her open it and then he can request, but he still has to pay for the DNA test himself. Or he can keep it private and go to court to request DNA testing...

Either way he will pay for the test unless he opens the case himself and then there is nothing he can do...

    Thanks Kevin,

Is that even if they are being paid for by their own father.

  • If I may be so presumptuous to answer the question addressed to Kevin...it doesn't matter to the CSA if the boys receive Child Maintenance from their own Dad or not ,that fact that they live in his household means he can apply for the reduction before the maintenance is calculated.
