I posted this on the holidays board but no replies so figure it might be better placed here....
We get married in October and for various reasons we have not been able to look at our honeymoon until now.
So we have ended up being really keen on Argentina but it's working out so expensive. We would need to card quite a bit it but would pay it off within 6 months of the wedding. (we are doing a honeymoon fund but can't rely on that)
Thing is I have never been out of Europe and my oh has been to china for 24hrs on work and America for 4 days for a wedding. We want to make this a once in a lifetime thing hopefully have kids at some point soon so who knows when our next chance will be..... But then there's the house we need to do bits too it! I just don't know lol!!!
Wekas anyone had a blow out honeymoon and regretted it or the other way round?

Will paying it off include the rest of the wedding too? If so, assuming your jobs are secure, and you are truly able to identify extra funds to pay each month, and you are confident you can repay it all in six months and don't expect significant outgoings during that time, I would think that's pretty good going for a special honeymoon.0

there are loads of ways to view this...and no right or wrong way!
Ok... we honeymooned in the UK because at the time it was what we wanted, and were lucky enough to be loaned a lovely farmhouse in an wondeful location from a friend as a wedding present.
We have since had some wondeful holidays and travelled the world...so I dont feel we ever missed out.It was lovely to just unwind after the wedding and do exactly as we pleased and to be honest we could have been anywhere in the world for all I cared!
If you want to go away its a wonderful way to start your married adventure....
The other way to look at it is....you hopefully only get one honeymoon....but you will possibly get lots of lovely holidays over the years....make the most of that precious time together wherever you spend it!frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
IS there the possibility of delaying the holiday by 6 months? Maybe have a weekend away after the wedding and then focus on the honeymoon 6 months later?
Their Summer is Dec-March so maybe if you're married in October have the Honeymoon in March?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

Yes we have been saving for the wedding and fingers crossed with out much overspending we should have enough to pay for everthing by the time Oct comes.
I have always been a save before buying kind of person and other than our mortgage we have no debts, which I think is why I am worring about putting it on the card and spending so much.
However we are really keen on going straight after the wedding and have approval from work for the extended leave. After some advice from here and from friends I think we might go for it. :T
It will be better value than the wedding lol as thats only for one day!:eek:Recently married and loving it x0 -
I'm not sure I'd want to be in Argentina if the Falklands stuff warms up again -for a normal holiday I'd still book but for a honeymoon -possibly not at this point especially as neither of you are particually experienced travellers. Do either of you speak Spanish ?
In your situation I'd probably book somewhere nice for after the wedding and have the proper honeymoon in Argentina six months later when you can pay for everything without adding six month's interest on the cards- especially if you're also doing work on the house .I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0
