Some good news! I checked the report again today, and it has leaped from poor to good - turns out that there was an address mismatch between how I entered my information and as the information was entered on the electoral roll (i.e. 15 ABC Street vs Flat 15 ABC Street), so now they have the right details and I am fine

I had 50% deposit but because i was UKBC and out of the country for 6 years no one wanted to touch us and we would fail at the first attempt for mortgage application even though i had been a postal voter on the electoral roll etc i had a UK credit card with good history.
The best piece of advice i received was from Halifax building society based near Brize Norton they have experience of MoD employees and obtaining a mortgage, whereby apparently they do your credit score based on paper as opposed to the online. You have to be prepared to fax and or scan email them lots of paper work and then they decide your worthiness on that. If you PM i can provide you with details.

Thanks bhattiw - if it doesn't go through with Nationwide, I'll certainly be asking you for that.0
