in Cutting tax
Hi
This is the first time I will have filled a tax return in online and have a few questions.
I became self employed in June last year sub contracting to a croofing company.
He pays my tax for me. I have just filled in my tax return and when it got to the calculation it is saying:
Total tax, Class 4 NIC and Student loan due for 2012-13 £1,507.47 First payment on account for 2013-14 £753.73
Payment due by 31 January 2014 £2,261.20
This amount does not take into account any 2012-13 payments on account you may have already made Second payment on account for 2013-14 will be due by 31 July 2014 £753.74
I have earned just over 15,000 pound since being self employed.
How come its saying I owe tax when I have already paid it.

You need to enter the amount of tax deducted (presumably under CIS) in box headed:
Deductions on payment and deduction statements from
contractors –
construction industry subcontractors only
This is towards the end of the form under Losses, Class 4 NICS and CIS deductions.
