Settlement Fee's

Hi Guys.

I owe about 11K. My dad JUST gave me the money to pay off all my debts (and lecture) and I just owe him. In all fairness, before this whopping debt, I only owed about £3000, then i decided to quit work, go back to college, take out a loan to do so, and then I couldnt get work. Basically I would like to know the outcome of me getting a reduced amount on my debt if I offer to pay them off as a lump sum payment. I am now working

1 credit card has already said they would half my debt, if i paid THAT amount off in full. I guess I would like to know my chances of doing this with a student loan and a career development loan (together about £7,100). How do I go about doing this? It says not to ring, and to write. why is this?

These are the 2 biggest debts I have. And If I can get them reduced, I'm halfway there.

Thanks for advice.
