hi all .
Need to get a coherent argument put together .
I asked my employer if they would pay for me to do a course .
the course would benefit them .
they said no ,not interested
i still would like to do the course so suggested that they book and pay for the course and deduct the cost from my salary (they are VAT registered ) that way the course which costs 4000 would be 800 pounds cheaper for me .
still getting the no we can't arrange that .would cause VAT issues .
As far as i can rememeber they would be able to us the cost of the cost against their yearly TAX bill .
I may have got this all wrong but any ideas opinions greatfully recieved .
regards

If you are refunding them it then it isnt a business expense for them and so the VAT wouldnt be recoverable.
If this idea worked then companies would give staff a credit card with a limit of their monthly salary and then at month end they'd clear the card and give the staff whatever the residual was.0 -
Depends on the training provider, FE Colleges do not charge VAT on training courses.0
