Pension - My money has been "returned to the fund"

I had group pension plan with AXA for a couple of years. After not having received correspondence for a while I just phoned them to find out why.
Apparently they wrote to me about transferring the management of the scheme to another provider. As I didn't respond, they have returned all my contributions to the fund and I no longer have any sort of pension with them.
I have never received any mail from them in regards to this. Are they able to do this? They never got in touch via phone either.

What do you mean they have returned it to the fund? What fund?I have never received any mail from them in regards to this. Are they able to do this?

AXA sold their Group Personal Pension business to Friends Life a few years back - that may explain the "transfer to another provider" you mention (assuming this is a group personal pension).
As for the "returned to fund" reference, as Dunston says, I have no idea what this means. However, if it was a Group Personal Pension arrangement then you will still have benefits with them.I am an IFA. Is it plausible you hadn't received correspondence because you had moved since the day you set the plan up?0
