Help with soup!

I tried this morning to make a pot of soup from memory without the recipe, and something's gone wrong! It was for curried butternut squash soup, and what I have made tastes more like my fav curry from the takeaway -good, but not soup and not something I really want for lunch! I put it one butternut squash, two onions, a carrot, some coconut milk and some curry powder. It tastes sweeter than normal, and as I say more sauce like than soup like in consistency -any ideas what I can put in to try and rescue it?! TIA...

Hi bride2be2012, I would just add some water to thin it out to the consistency you want, or you could try adding a vegetable stock cube as well disolved in the water. That may stop it being too sweet also.

could you have missed out the stock? my 'recipe' for this sort of soup would have had chicken or veg stock in it to balance it out because I am not keen on it being too sweet......:oEvery Penny's a prisoner :T0

Add some water or stock to get a better consistency. Lemon juice or vinegar will cut through the sweetness, or try a bit more salt and pepper. Add a little bit at a time, stir and taste until it tastes more how you want it to.0
