Is it possible to transfer current mortgage (deal expired) from my name to my wife's name (providing she meets the lending criteria)? There is no separation/relationship breakdown issue here...

You'll need to ask the lender.
You are transferring the mortgage and the ownership. You can't transfer the mortgage in isolation.
They may insist on a TofE into joint names, then another to remove you.I am a mortgage broker.
