certifications?

hey folks, i need to beef up my cv as it is quite lacking at the moment, i was just wondering what is the most common type of certification that employers look for when it comes to bookkeeping, payroll, accountancy and finance.

but a better question is do certifications even matter? will employers even look at you unless you can back that cert up with a degree?

any of you guys have any succes with this sort of thing?

kind regards
zed.

Beef it up? You are going to lie?

You need experience in accounts more than a made up qualification.

Why don't you try and get a trainee/entry level role at a firm and they will train you up.

Sage is an accounts package not an accountancy qualification.

i didnt know you could do this but you would have to pay them to train you right? wouldnt it be a cheaper alternative to do it at home?

You don't pay IF the employer has a study programme.

What job are you looking for and what experience do you have if any?

No they will train you to sue whatever software you need to use.

if you are allowed and you want to do any courses/exams (aca or acca etc) then they will probably pay for it

That all depends on what job it is. You are not going to get a job as an accounts junior with no experience and then a full ACCA study package. That's highly unlikely.

yeah i thought they would only train you for free if you already have a job with a company or if you've just graduated.
