Leg make up or gradual tan

Options
My legs are quite pasty and also now I have veins showing (the trials of middle age). In summer I like to wear skirts but am more conscious of my legs than I used to be. I can't wear tights or pop socks in summer, thats not an option as I would be too hot and uncomfortable.

I have bought some Johnsons Holiday Skin but it smells so foul I can't bear to use it. I was thinking of getting the Dove gradual tan but then how long will I have to wait for it to work?

I have seen some cream leg make up by Sally Hansen but its not a very big tube for the price and I wonder if it will be messy and difficult to remove but would mean an instant tan on my legs.

Any advice please?

I use Dove gradual tan and you can see a slight colour difference a few hours after applying. I alternate it daily with a body firming moisturiser one day and the gradual tan the next day. It builds up a nice, natural looking colour.

I've never used an instant wash off tan for the simple reason I'd be guaranteed to spill something on it and end up with a big white patch :D
  • I use Boots Soltan - I mix it with a small amount of ordinary moisturiser before I use on face, arms and legs. To get an equal colour, I count the amount of drops I use of each, make sure I have exfoliated and moisturised properly first and wash my hands regularly. It doesn't streak and if I think I could go a bit darker can be built up gradually so that you don't look "Tangoed":rotfl:

The rimmel leg make up is quite good and cheaper than the Sally hanson one

I wouldn't use those airbrush legs in a can normally quite dark. Also wouldn't use a wash off one or streaky legs when it rains :O reminds me of a Saturday night out lol.

I know what you mean about Johnson Holiday Tan smells horrible. I use Nivea its a little better but I love the Garnier Summerbody.

Or couldn't you buy a normal fake tan and mix it with moisturer. My friend from college who loves high end makeup and beauty treatments said she mixes fake tan with Nivea (Blue bottle) body moisturer. So I tried it with this god awful fake tan we have to use (doing makeup&beauty) and it made the fake tan beautiful and so natural looking, no streaks beautiful colour. That way you got tanned legs for a few days. Just make sure to put tons of moisturizer on your ankles and knees.

Oh dear, I didn't know that visible veins was a middle-age thing :( I'm 25 and the backs of my legs look like a map! Ergh. I'd give gradual tanning a go, but on white redhead skin it would probably look very obvious!
