Whittards 'Tea investment'
Comments

Enough cold jokes already! I recall whittards had a dodgy moment a couple of years ago but seem OK now. Given the 10% return (before tax) on tea we would buy anyway I may have a punt.0

I don't quite understand the tax implications on £100 of tea. Is this a voucher, or a gift box type affair worth £100? Would HMRC require us to send tea to them in the post?0

As I understand it HMRC would consider the tea to be a disguised premium and you would have to treat the £100 of tea as interest and declare £100 as if it was cash received. Not sure what the 10% discount card could be taxed as though.0
