Non UK citizen mortgage

Can anybody please list the banks which gives mortgage to non-UK citizen? I've tried googling but could only find agents, I'd like to approach the banks directly to avoid the middle man.
I've checked with HSBC with whom we've (my wife and me) have personal accounts with, but they dont provide mortgage to non-UK citizens.
I've been here in UK for the past 2 years, and recently got my visa renewed for another 2 years. Does anybody here know/got mortgage from banks without being a citizen here..
Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

Just been to see Halifax this morning.. Try them... For sure, they are willing to consider Tier-1 visa holders.
The advisor mentioned HSBC (which was a surprise to me) cos I dont believe they offer mortgages to non ILR visa holders / UK nationals.
Other than that, I believe Barclays are worth a shot.
I have appointments with Santander and Barclays next week..0 -
Hi
Thanks for the quick response, I'll try with Halifax, Barclays and Santander..
I don't have any credit card or any other form of credit currently, so do you think is that a problem for applying for mortgage?

Normally it does help if you have credit cards or some other form of borrowing on credit (so as long as you pay back on time).. This helps with your Credit rating that all banks refer to... It shows that you are a 'responsible' borrower...
Even if you have loads of saving accounts, but dont have any track record of borrowing, your Credit file may look quite empty... as a result of which you may not display a 'great credit score'.. Other than that.. Payments by direct debits to Utility companies, phone, broadband contracts also helps..
But I will say that each application and circumstance is different and will be treated on a case by case basis by the underwriters.0
