Bump - new week, new Best mag. :D Going shopping later so I'll let you know if there's anything interesting in it in terms of MOCs (unless someone else beats me to it :)).

The post above got me very excited - looking forward to the Magazine Week (29 September - 5 October), hopefully there will be plenty of good NSS MOCs around. ;)
Magazine week was fab last year. I got loads of flyers that were lying around in Martins newsagent for money off mags that were nss with long dates. Some were store specific but they lasted for ages...:p
I seem to remember a promotion in Sainsburys as well.

They certainly look NSS, although the first one is going to have to be inputted manually as it ends in 000. Still, some Tesco SAs will input the price even without buying the product. ;)

As a matter of interest, does anyone know what Oatley Oat drink actually is??
I have visions of liquid porridge!!!:rotfl:
  • clicky here

Oatly is a range of dairy products made of oats instead of milk. All our products are milk- and soya-free, and most of them are entirely vegetable-based. But you don't have to have an intolerance to milk or be a vegetarian to like Oatly.
The make-up of oats is perfect for us humans, and oat fibres help reduce raised cholesterol levels. A superb foundation for well-balanced, healthy products. Now you can benefit from all the good things oats have to offer while still enjoying delicious food.

I have to say I didnt fancy it much, not the sort of thing I would buy but the smoothie on their site looks yum!!

Am I right in thinking the MOC will only work if you actually buy the stuff - i.e. its not NSS?

LOL, guess I didn't explain myself properly. :o

NSS stands for non store specific. This one is store specific as it says it can only be used in Tesco, Sainsbury's etc.

It will work without buying the product, but only if the SA will input the price manually. It will bleep if you use it on self-scan.

So what you do is when the SA scans it, the MOC bleeps, and you say, "Oh, the product costs £1.49", pointing at the relevant bit on the MOC, and hopefully the SA will type this in and it should work. Some SAs will not do this though without seeing the actual product.

As the price of the product will have to be inputted manually, so it's not an ideal MOC really, but it is possible to use it, especially by seasoned MOC users.

If you're a subscriber to Good Food, don't throw away the bits of paper that come with it. There is a 'win a cruise' competition, and you need your subscriber number, which is on the address piece of paper. Enter the number on www.subscribeonline.co.uk/win.

There was also the same competition entry for subscribers of Gardener's World, so might be on other BBC subscriber editions, keep your eyes peeled.

I believe they want the barcodes because if it starts with certain numbers (99 I think?) it means it can be used in Tesco, which means they can use it against their shopping as long as that store stocks the item (even if they don't buy it). In theory, anyway, as some people get denied. I'm not certain on this as I only shop Tesco online.
