No, Fresh Magazine was last year's winner of the legendary (and imaginary;) )title:
'MSE-Magazine-Offers-Thread-Most-Coupon-filled-Mag':D .
But it only had £8-worth of coupons and they were only valid for 3 months over the Summer of 2007.
It looks as though 'Pregnancy & Birth' is a hot contender for this year's 'title' already, lol! What prize shall we award to it I wonder, bet their Magazine Team wouldn't be best pleased that we are discussing it like this (even less those nice people at Huggies HQ!) - but professoryaffle who was the OP looks set to get my vote for Feb's Post of the Month though.
Anyone not thanked the OP yet, please pop back a couple of pages, it was such a fantastic first post, professoryaffle! :TPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I've bought 5 "Pregnancy and Birth" mags this week (should be enough to last till August), thru the self-scan at Tesco and keeping them face down at all times. After ripping out the coupons I've left the mags in the break room at work and it fair brightens my day to think of all the gossip it might have started.0

So who bought all the Mother and Baby mags in Tesco Pitsea???:D
No worries, managed to get some in WHSmith along with Your Home for paint coupon.:xmastree::xmassign: :xmastree:0 -
First of all to the OP who spotted the Baby mag - fair play.
May I ask a question?
There have been several posts of MSErs using the vouchers for general shopping - references to DVDs - obviously using the vouchers for anything other than the actual published usage - Huggies IIRC.
I applaud this - and ultimately 'each to their own' is The Dude's moto.
No one has been flamed.
So how come whenever I even mention using other Stores coupons/vouchers in Tesco I get slightly flamed - even accused of being 'stupid' the last time I mentioned it...?
I personally feel that if a coupon is used for anything other than it's face purpose - or if multiple coupons are used in the same transaction against the T&Cs of the coupon then this is coupon abuse.
Again I have no problem with this.
Can someone nicely  explain to me why I get flamed when I mention Somerfield coupons and Tesco in the same sentence - but other abuse goes by without comment.
I'm genuinely looking for thoughts - not an anti-Dude falme on session!

Hi Hey Dude,
If you use a Huggies MOC, tesco can claim their money back as it is a general coupon and not specific to any particular store. There are plenty of people who will buy huggies without using a coupon so it balances out (in theory).
If you use a Somerfield coupon in tesco, asda or any other store for that matter, they cannot claim thier money back as it is an exclusive deal set up between somerfield and manufacturer!

"Manufacturers" coupons (eg Heinz, Kelloggs) offering 20p off beans or 30p off cornflakes are intended to boost sales or get you to try another brand from you normal one. These will be returned by Asda/Tesco etc via a promotions agency to Heinz/Kelloggs.
Asda/Tesco get their 20p / 30p for each one (sometimes plus another 1p or 2p for the "inconvenience") - Heinz/Kelloggs foots the bill and subsidises your shopping if you haven't bought THE BEANS or THE CORNFLAKES.
Using them for something other than THE beans or THE cornflakes is not a major concern due to the fact that Asda/Tesco not only stock these products but also sell tens of millions of both items in a year. The number of coupons redeemed is a minute fraction of one percent of this total. Also that if I use a Heinz beans coupon to buy Kelloggs cornflakes and you use a Kelloggs cornflakes coupon to buy Heinz beans then we have all but cancelled or balanced each other out.
"Store" coupons come in 2 general forms.
1) Spend £50 get £5 off your bill.
2) Buy ITEM X save £1.50
Regards type 1), Asda, Tesco & Sainsburys have frequently offered customers in possession of their rivals coupons (of this sort - £5 off £50) that they can be used at their own stores.
Basically this type of coupon is a percentage discount (£5 off a £50 spend is 10%) and Asda take the stance that, if Tesco have offered a Tesco customer a 10% discount on a £50 trolley full of goods, then Asda will ALSO offer you the same 10% off by accepting the Tesco coupon themselves. Similarly Sainsbury's/Tesco have accepted Asda's equivalent 5% or 10% off coupons.
Type 2) is where you have fallen foul of the Somerfield coupons in Tesco or elsewhere issue. The ITEM X is 99% of the time NOT stocked by Tesco. The reason for this is that ITEM X is frequently a Somerfield product. Given that the coupon in this case is produced BY Somerfield to be used IN Somerfield, any that end up in Tesco tills are worthless because to "redeem" their value Somerfield would have to give Tesco MONEY for something not purchased in a Somerfield store and most probably not purchased AT ALL if a Somerfield ONLY product where Somerfield were the ones providing the subsidy/discount in the first place.
The Somerfield (or others of a similar type) "can be used in a manner" for NON Somerfield only products (but NOT as a general discount off anything) in Asda (not sure about Tesco/elsewhere) IF YOU ACTUALLY BUY the product.
The coupon WILL NOT (as such) be used as 50p off ITEM X where Asda stocks ITEM X and there is one in your trolley, BUT to PRICE MATCH.
So (for example) if Somerfield sell Walkers Crisps 14 pack at £2.39 but their magazine has a "Somerfield only" 50p off coupon for this Walkers multipack (making them £1.89) - ASDA will PRICE MATCH the £1.89 ! This may not be a 50p OFF Asda's price because Asda could be already selling them at £1.99
So in this case the coupon "is used" to get a 10p discount - but Asda will not "have the coupon in the till" for redemption (like a manufacturers' one) and they will not expect to get 50p back off Somerfield - it will be retained JUST as proof of the PRICE MATCH that has been done by the till operator.
Hope this clears things up.

Hi hey Dude
What concerns most people, is not that you are diddling any money out of tesco. I doubt any of us care.
Its just that, as quoia and NTT said, if you use a non store specific manufacturers coupon in tesc, they'll happily accept it because they get the money back for it.
If you use a somerfield/morrisons/asda specific product coupon, they WONT get the money back for it.
I'm not bothered about that, but what I AM bothered about, is, if tesco get too many coupons through the till that they cannot redeem, they'll say "Right, no more coupons accepted," and then we all lose out.
My local tesco one day last yr when i fished out my coupons, said, "Sorry, no more". I showed them my HO e mail, and asked for a CS manager, but they refused. When i asked why they said that too many people were abusing the policy and were handing over "Any old coupon" for Morrisojs, somerfield and such like that they were unable to redeem.
Fortunately in November they started accepting them again. I consider myself very lucky to be able to save so much on my shopping and would hate greedy people handing in "any old coupon" to spoil it again!;)
All the pregnancy and birth mags gone in our tesco:eek: must be some MSERs shop there, but picked one up from the newsagent on way back from DS's football:TI can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky.
