ID in Maiden Name - Mortgage Application

Hi
My broker is confusing me with this so thought I would ask you lovely lot!
My passport and drivers license are still in my maiden name. I didn't change drivers license yet as I knew we were moving so would have to change it twice, and a passport is really expensive and it runs out later this year so I was waiting until then.
My mortgage broker is now saying the application will have to be in my maiden name and then after its all gone through, I can go into a branch of halifax and change it with my marriage certificate. Not sure if there is a fee involved.
All of my bank details are in my married name too.
Does anyone know if this is correct, or surely just a copy of my marriage certificate will be fine along with my photo ID in my maiden name?
Thanks

Its free to change your driving license to your new name and also to change the address. Also you can be fined if its incorrect so no reason why this shouldn't have been done!
A passport doesn't have your address on it, and you can renew it anytime you want, they add up to 9 months of your old passport onto your new one (making a 10 year 9 month validation passport) so again, might as well get it updated.
Sorry don't know the answer to your actual question though!Slimming World Member - Started 05/02/150 -
Thanks for the reply - I didn't realise it was free to do the drivers license. I will get onto it, although ideally I don't want it to delay the house buying process so hopefully there is another answer for the now.
Re the passport, you definitely have to pay for a whole new one so I was just trying to save up for it first

New passport fees are £72.50 now - so you'll save a £5 on what I paid out for my daughters last year! You can do a fast track one for £103 if you wish to. Driving licence should take very little time - 2 weeks or so.
Yes you should be able to do the purchase in your maiden name and then update the name on the mortgage in due course. Marriage cert and ID should be enough once you have got those changed - it is not that much of a priority - so it can wait. As to whether any fee is involved with the name change and your lender, cannot see why there should be. All they do is update the mortgage account records. Lots of people get married every year and the lady ends up changing her name.0 -
You should be able to do the application in your married name, the broker will just need to have a copy of your current ID and marriage certificate.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I have just been in this position. Been married for 5 years but still have my maiden name on my passport, drivers license and the bank account I get paid into as I kep my maiden name at work. We applied with RBS (who I bank with under my maiden name) They put my married name on the application - didn't seem at all bothered by this. Maybe it's different for different banks though.Earn £2015 in 2015: £13:33/20150
