Headset and microphone for Skype

Hello! Can anyone help please. I need a headset and microphone to use with Skype. The choices and prices are immense. Any suggestions?
I would like big headset as those little sponge ear pieces are not comfortable for me. Otherwise the only important thing is that the quality of sound is decent (I'm a bit deaf) and the microphone works well (my parents are a bit deaf too!)
I've no idea what to choose from the multitude for sale. I need a decent piece of kit as I'm going overseas for work and won't have access to shops to replace anything should it break.
Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.
