If been with DX Secure (Near Glasgow) as a self employed courier for 6 months after a 3 month vetting process. Its a good job and I run it from my own car delivering mostly passports. They keep you in the same postcodes and mostly its between 70 and 90 drops a day over a five to 6 day week. My wages are usually over £620 a week but some drivers are £800 to £1000 depending mostly on mileage.
They pay a minimum of £85 mon to fri, (its normally £90 to £100) and £150 for a sat.
Not sure what everyone is complaining about as after over heads it still pulls a decent wage. I wouldn't bother hiring a van! The only issue is them giving you too much work that cant be done in a day!
The staff are friendly and work hard to accommodate what is realistic in your postcode areas. If your on a route with lots of flats and city centre drops then they cant expect you to deliver a stupid amount within your shift. Tell them your not doing it! If they sack you hit the brew and drink cheap cider and watch homes under the hammer in yer orange Y'fronts wie fawn trims tanning super noodles. :-)
I do however get the points that have been made about nuggets in the higher eshelongs sitting behind a desk looking at spread sheets looking for unrealistic targets, they want to try it! Given a chance they would run you into the ground. They should listen!
Look, use your car give it a go see what you think. I understand every depot will be run different and if you dont like it just walk away. Work to live. Not the other way about. Six months from now if I see it different Ill be Off. If it spins as its been going Ill be there for a while. EAsy peasy! Its just a job so get on wie it!0 -

I had a telephone conversation with an employment agency today.
They asked me if I wanted them to put me forward for a multi-drop position (self-employed). They wouldn't tell me the company but they quoted this figure to me minus van leasing and other vehicle costs.
Looks like it is for this firm.
If I decide to apply or this, it wil be directly rather than through the agency now.0 -
