Hi anyone! Advice needed
I recently noticed on my credit file i had an £81 outstanding debt from greenwoods personal credit (provident) from 2009!
I was sure i paid it off (maybe not) however they have never ever chased me for it!
Wanting to clear my file i contact them, after the odd email i got a letter to say that the account is settled to there satisfaction! :j
However 2 days later i got a default notice saying i owe and have to pay the £81!
do i have a leg to stand on? First they never contact me then they say its paid then they say its not?!

Have they already placed a default on your file?
If they have already written to you telling you it is satisfied, send a copy of it back to them. If they insist you owe the money then ask for a statement of account so you can verify it.I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.
Don't rely on anything I write as it may be wrong!!!0 -
Thanks for your reply- they may well of done years ago when i hadn't paid- haven't checked my file recently only a basic one from Noddle which shows late payment
Thanks will contact them and see what they say0 -
I would suggest you get your £2 statutory reports off Experian and Equifax to find exactly what has been recorded on your file...I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.
