Hello lovely DFWers!!
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:
Today I will:
- not be increasing my debt in any way
- send everyone off to school/work with packed lunches
- give a birthday present from the "present cupboard" rather than going out and buying something.
- go to the bank
- transfer money from paypal once my ebay buyer acknowledges safe receipt of a parcel
- doing a mystery shop and a couple of hours invigilating at school
Have a good day everyone x

Morning guys!! How are you doing in good old blighty?
I have spent a few $$ today on (ahem) non-essential items, but I also bought my lunch in with me and tonight I am going to a bar that gives ladies 2 free champagnes (and I found a voucher from the last time I was there too, so I can have 3, whoo!!) .
It was my last payday yesterday - !! Slightly scared about the prospect of having no income & whether my finances will stretch, but I am going to enjoy my last few weeks in Sydney & in HK, so b*ggar it!!
Have a good day everyone. Almost 5pm for me, whooooooooo!! xx0 -
As well as all the usual stuff I will go to my "banking review" this morning and politely refuse the "further advance" on my mortgage they are likely to offer to "help" me pay off my debts.

Morning everyone! Some unexpected things today:
- am changing my gas and elec supplier, so I got an up to date reading from my previous one. I'm £82 in debt to them on the gas account, which was a bit of a surprise, so today I listed all sorts of ways I know/have heard of on here, to cut down - packing the freezer, hot water in a flask, that kind of thing. And I didn't automatically switch the gas fire on this morning, either.
- have posted on the internet access board here about taking up a cheap offer for broadband access from sky and keeping my virgin.net email address, which I need for work, its on my work website and my leaflets.
- will print out Eager Learner's click routine, which I asked for yesteday (thanks EL!), and start to use it, systematise that.
- use my affirmation (didn't put it up here yesterday
- phone the structural engineers (didn't do that yesterday, either, oops).2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Don't usually reply to myself:rotfl: but got quite a surprise today about this item that I said I'd do:- phone the structural engineers.
This was so that when I get quotes for building work, I know what's safe and what needs to be done structurally. I got 3 rough quotes from local people over the internet, and have spoken to a couple this morning. The concensus seems to be, don't both paying someone like me, just ask your plumber/your builder (delete as appropriate). What nice people! And the fee would have been something like £400!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
