I'm posting this to share the word - it is not an invitation to engage in debate about the merits of fast food nor morals of "taking advantage" of company polices.
While queuing at a BK in London the other day I read a notice attached to the front of one of the tills, it said something to the effect, "If you are not given a receipt with your change your meal will be free of charge. Please tell us at once."
I understand that some shops suffer problems with staff operating tills where they will take an order for product X valued at £10 but ring up a transaction for product Y only valued at £1, the difference being skimmed from the till during the shift so at the end of the day the float, till balance and transaction log marry up - no "lost" is detected. The only way the employer can force their staff not to dip the till is to force the balance to be true at the end of the day.
So during the four minute wait for food with only a few coins of change in my hand I decided to take BK up on their "offer", the duty manager was called for and at first said the receipt was here, indicating and taking the printed receipt from the till's printer. I slowly read the notice aloud - pointing out the specfic wording "...given a receipt with your change..." and offered the loose change in my hand back to the staff memeber that had served me. Who BTW was wearing a three gold star "supervisor" badge, oppps! The manager was a little dismisive when he finally said "...OK" and walked off.
So, keep their staff on the straight and narrow - increase BK profits and gather a free meal at BK.
"I'm lovin' it." - or is that those other people?

nice one. all fast food workers are die hard fans and would take a bullet for a whopper.
you should see the faces they pull when a discount is in order. jeez.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"0 -

I saw a similar notice at a coffee and cake type stall at Paddington station so it is not just at Buger King. So keep your eyes peeled MSE'ers!0

I spotted the same sign at Caffe Ritazza at Euston Station the other day, but the staff seemed to be well trained there as the whole queue all had receipts handed with their change!0

i also noticed this at Harry Ramsdens in gateshead"we don't stop playing because we get old; we get old because we stop playing."0

I used to do Mystery Shopping at MacDonald's:eek: . Apart from having to have a receipt to prove I actually went there and tested the food (well I paid for it but didn't necessarily eat much of it:o ) we had to state on the survey form whether we were given a receipt without having to ask. Several times I asked and still didn't get one as 'the till is down' etc. I usually had to ask on most visits to a variety of different branches, probably drawing attention to myself as a MS as no-one ever seemed to bother with receipts. There was no free-meal notice there though. As a non-MS I'd been overcharged a few times in the past.
Off topic. Sorry!:o0
