How long to complete?

Hi was wondering if anyone could offer some advice? We made an offer on a house on 25th Feb, was accepted. 26th Feb, conveyancers instructed. Mortgage offered on 8th March. How long can we expect to be waiting to complete? Tried to get hold of solicitor last week but kept going to answerphone (assuming he's on holiday). Also, we are currently in an army house and they have already booked our removals for 22nd may as we thought this was a realistic date with it being 12 and half weeks after we put offer in. Should we be complete by then? Beginning to worry a bit now. Thanks in advance

  • Can be done in a matter of weeks (4-5) rarely quicker but can also take months on end.

Completion is dependent on the needs of everyone else in the chain. It is a date agreed and compromised, taking into account everyone's circumstances.

We can't tell you when you should complete. When the solicitors have all the necessary documentation, they will request provisional preferred dates from their respective clients. Once one of them becomes everyone's agreed date, they then have everyone in to sign and pay deposits, then they exchange contracts and the completion date becomes binding.
