should i start a pension via my company?

Options
hi, we had a meeting last month at work and they now offer a pension, you can pay what ever you like into it and they will pay 3% of you monthly salary into it each month. Now I’m 21 and don't really have any debts (have a few hundred to pay on a couple of things but that’s not anything to worry about)
Now the thing is I don't think I will be working for them for much longer (I’ve said I want a new job buy January) so would it be worth me signing upto this pension scheme?
I need to get more details from them about it if it is worth it.
If not what are my other options?
thanks

its free money if you join and you can always transfer it later at no cost. plus I know people that have said they are leaving their job for years but still havent.

From 2012 all firms will have to offer a pension scheme or join the NPSS so they are probably preparing for that.

You have no other option that can match the free money.

I agree with dunstonh. Get it going asap, put a few percent of your salary in yourself as well and if you decide to leave the company you can just let it ride for years or transfer if you want to further down the line and the penalties are not too bad. I personally have 4 pensions on the go from various companies i have worked for. As long as you let them know change of address its all good. if i was 21 again i would put a whack away more than i did, instead of blowing it on booze and exotics which i now have no memory of.
