Clarks - Disappointing Online Experience

I've just sent this letter of complaint to Clarks, it's kind of self explanatory. I would like to hear if anyone else has had this kind of experience when buying online. In hindsight I would have been better off having it delivered with nobody home and then collecting it from the Post Office Depot.

Dear Clarks,
RE: Order Number here
I bought a pair of shoes from your website on the 5th April this month. At that time the price on the website showed £67.99.
During the week I am not at home for home delivery so I opted to collect the shoes from the store in XXXXX.
Today on Saturday 13th April I visited the shop and was very disappointed to find that the shop were expecting me to pay £79.99 for the same pair of shoes. They claimed the price I saw online was a promotional price and it had finished last week. The shop did offer me a 10% discount but this only brought the price down to £72 and not the original price of £67.99.
This is very unusual behaviour for an online shop. I expect to pay the price I see when I order it online and go through the hassle of collecting it in person. I am not aware of any other shops that condone this business practice and found it an embarassing and unpleasant experience.
In the end I refused to purchase the shoes and I left your store unhappy.
Best Regards,

I know Argos have a disclaimer on their site that the price you pay is the price in the store on the day.
as for Clarks, they do state on the site that if the price drops between you "order to collect" then you get it at the current price when you're in the shop, so it looks like only home delivery "locks" the price...0 -
This would have been better in Praise, Vents and Warnings.
It's not completely clear but did you actually place the order on the website and pay there with the option to collect from store? Or did you merely reserve to collect in store?
I suspect the latter, and this will be why you were charged more.
It wasn't an online purchase if you didn't pay through the website.
It's quite common for businesses to have different in store and online prices.
I do the reverse - if I see a pair of shoes I like instore I try them on, I go home, order on the website through quidco and pay less. Have them delivered to work with no problems.
