More efficient comping? Help please

Options
Just wondering if my suggestion is a good one- feedback welcome.
I have almost either entered or decided not to enter all competitions posted on this wonderful forum by super- dedicated MSEers( and I am truley grateful for the time they spend).
This takes quite a while to do, so got me thinking.
I go through posts and cross those I do not want to enter, or am not eligible to enter(then thank the OP).
I then go through and tick the posts of the comps with end dates( ie not dailies/ weeklies/ multiple entry/ tasks to complete etc) that I have entered(then thank the OP).
I now do not need to see these posts again.

If there was a option in the search to filter out posts that you had crossed and or ticked then it would make going through the remainder of the posts more efficient.
If this functunality is available on the comp forum, do compers think it would be useful to them, and if so, is there any way of asking the admin to implement it?( voting?)
Any feedback welcome.

This has been suggested many times, it would be useful for some, but to be honest, after the problems that we had when the last suggested 'improvement' was implemented, I think people are reluctant for any more changes for a while.

Would agree and since we have had the great addition of ticks and crosses, scanning through the comps has been much faster, less hard on the eyes ;)

With most I do not need to open the post to see if it is something I might want to enter or not, I can often go a full page of 20 and red tick them all and doing that from the index takes less than a minute.
I find having got up to date it doesn't take very long to work through the newly added ones to stay there.

I think this is an excellent suggestion - I would find it very useful.

I don't think it's anywhere near as risky as the last 'improvement' that went so badly wrong as (a) it's not altering the format of each thread and (b) it would be an optional feature to click/unclick when doing a list/search.

My usual comping routine is to catch up in the evening from where I left off yesterday. This typically gives me 15-20 pages to work though. If I could exclude the ticked/crossed ones it would probably cut this down by a third, so very welcome!

I agree, if its not broke, don't fix it. There's only so much streamlining you need to do after all, it takes simply seconds to scan for ticks and crosses so I would not be bothered. All the comps are here with links already, most have answers, just how quick do you want it to be, we have to put in some effort ;)

If you sort the board using this link, it puts the threads into the order they were posted. Any that you dealt with the day before will be 'behind' any that have been posted since, so no ticks or crosses to sort through :)

I think Priorslee has hit the nail on the head.
It would only be an option.
Yes it ain't broke, but with a small tweak it could become more efficient.
There are only a few compers on this forum who are up-to-date and just need to check the most recent posts. This will not take long for them.
Imagine someone is starting comping today on this forum.
This would be especially helpful to the new comper, but not so much for the up- to- daters.
It's not necessarily about speed, but definitely about efficiency.
I think if you polled new users and asked if it would be helpful- they would say yes.
If you ask long- time users they would say why bother?
    Think of the newbies.

I would class myself as a long time comper, yet I would still find it useful. I have never ever got to the stage where I have been all through the board and am always playing catch up.
