I work on a site where 2 of us are employed by the same agency. Recently my job role changed and I had a slight payrise. Because there is only the 2 of us working on opposite shifts we tend to cover each other for holidays which has never been a problem because the extra pay has always been welcome. Recently however I covered 2 working days but it is now showing on my payslip as 'cover' at the lesser rate of pay!
Are my employers allowed to do this,or should I still be entitled to 'my' rate of pay?

Here you are "entitled" to the rate for the job - as determined by your employer. The rate for your regular work is for that work and not the work of the other person: it is not "your" rate.0

The person isn't being asked to do "their" job for the overtime, they are being asked to do the other person's job which is at a lower rate because the OP got an increase because they had different duties added.
There is probably no "obligation" to do it at all, it's extra hours.0
