I got my first mobile in 1996. You couldn'e even text off it Had a proliferation of pagers for work before that. To message a paper you had to call BT give the operator the message and they would send it :rotfl:
A friend of mine had a contract phone and a pager. Cost about £30 a month but could call mobiles which then cost over £1 per minute:eek: He was absolutely hammering it. After six months they offered him £1000 to cancel the contract. He said no I think he finally got offered £5000 :eek:(maybe more) which he succumbed to :rotfl:
