Book-keeping courses

I was thinking about taking a book-keeping course, I won't go into the in's and out's, but can someone advise me on where to start and how much it would cost?

Thanks in advance.

Have a look at your local college. Mine did both a book-keeping course and the AAT course.
AAT can also be done in a few other ways - either through self-study with the text books (Osborne,Kaplan or BPP) or you can do it via distance learning through Kaplan.
Book-keeping is likely to be shorter and cheaper whereas AAT could lead onto other things (ie you can do all 3 levels) and prgress onto chartered exams.
you may be able to get funding through your local college depending on what qualifications you have achieved previously.

  • The OU do a good basic booking course - code B190 - Introduction to Bookkeeping.

You have the option to do it over 12 weeks or 24 weeks, and gives you a good basic knowledge by the end. No exam, just an end of course assessment, which is done at home and submitted by the course deadline.
  • I know about one college which provides online training in book keeping. You can check it's website ukopencollege(dot)co(dot)uk for detailed info.
