advice needed please

I'd like to start undergraduate studies at university as a mature student. I have a debt (2 loans + 1 credit card) of £26000. As it is a full time course I will have to leave my job. Is it possible to ask for a payment break from my creditors?

You could ask, but I don't know what the response would be.

Whilst you would have to leave your present job, I take it you would get some part time work during the week and also work during the holidays?

    You can certainly ask!

I don't know what your domestic situation is like, but (see my sig) it's possible to maintain reasonable debt payments on a student income. You can also apply for hardship funds from the university if you get stuck once you're there (but don't rely on them as an income source). You can also work part-time during the semester with no detrimental effect on your studies, you just have to be very organised and efficient with your time. I assume you'd be working full-time during the summer breaks, and it's very possible to get lots of work over Christmas, too.

I get about £4000 student loan/grant income per year and don't work during the semester. I live with my parents, which is cheap rent but also means I get a smaller student loan, so I think it works out the same. I run a car, pay for my own phone line, my share of the internet and buy my own food. My expenses are comparable to a student living away from home, yet even without working in the term time I can afford £200/month to service debts.

Maybe you could give a bit more info about your domestic situation, we might be able to give more advice?
