Are the standard letters effective?

Hello everybody.
I have been reading the posts on this site for a while now, I see alot of people given advice to write to DCAs asking for a copy of the original agreement and copies of any paper work which assigns the debt to the DCA ect.
I was wondering how often if ever the DCA respond correctly to these letters. Do they ever drop the case or fail to respond to the request?
If they fail to respond has anybody went on to have debts removed by the courts because of that lack of response?

dunno, I am one who is trying at the moment. Not sure if I will be successful. I am not trying to get out of paying my debt though, I am quite happy to pay it, but I would love to get my defaults removed.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

LOL, NO! From what I understand it is not an easy or quick route. I am 'lucky' I suppose, I have four defaults. One from the bank when I reclaimed over £4,000 worth of charges. They withdrew my overdraft and then charged me more interest. After nine months, I owed them a further £1,500. One is a catalogue that I had payment protection on. I wrote to them recorded delivery last week. The third is La Redoute, I have written to them, they have cashed my £1 fee cheque but I have had no joy so far. The final one is from Barclays loan. I haven't asked them for a CCA as they haven't been chasing me. But I need to clear both the debt and my name, so I rang them tonight. They had passed the debt to Westcott but it has now passed back to Barclays. I am going to ring them tomorrow and see if I can come to some kind of compromise.
If you go over to https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk there are plenty of people over there who are trying this route.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford
