Be careful, these don't look like they've real tyres. They're just cheap plastic sold wheels, which can make them VERY slippy especially in wet/damp conditions.

    For more information.
  • My son struggled for YEARS to get off stabilisers. I so wish we had gone balance bike route
Just an idea but changing your title to say 'strider balance bike' might help folks to spot it. xx
  • The new ST4 strider balance bike is also here in the UK so it could be that sellers are selling the old model off cheap?

Sorry but this deserves a correction. They are NOT solid plastic wheels.

The tyres on a STRIDER balance bike are made of an EVA polymer, which while they are solid in so far as they have no air in them and cannot puncture, they are squishy and perfectly usable on and off-road, while some common sense is applied by the parent.

The fact there is a massive US and now UK racing scene for these bikes would suggest how usable they are.

Google Strider Cup UK for more info.

I bought a balance bike for xmas and shes off and away on her own at 3 years old around the park - dont pay silly money though tescos have em for 30 or 40 pounds - the one we got had a brake as well to practice with for the later bike.

I had 3 other kids riding a bike without stabilisers at 4/5 years old but had to go through the dreaded removal of the stabilisers - not this time I think they are brill. heres a link to the tesco ones

My son had a cheapie balance bike from Tescos (£20) when he was 2 1/2. Within a year he was on a bike without stabilizers.

Agreed, we got my son one a while back for £15. I can't see how this one is much better for the extra money?!
