I went bankrupt in December - but never had to deal with this as I'm in Forces accommodation!
Anyway, a friend of mine is considering going bankrupt, she phoned a debt advisor today who told her that if she went bankrupt then her landlord would be told and she'd probably get kicked out of her house!
She's got a young baby, and her boyfriend is currently out of work (is going on regular interviews but so far has been unlucky in finding a job!
Anyway, she now doesn't know what to do. It will take her 16 years to pay off her debt if she goes into the suggested DMP.
I said I'd look on the net for her and find out as I although I knew the OR might tell the landlord (didn't know if they definitely would), I thought it might only be in extreme circumstances that they'd get kicked out!

I dont know who the advisor was but she just text me to say that they'd also told her that the property would be blacklisted, and someone would come and take all her stuff!

Sounds like she's been talking to a "debt advisor" who was in fact trying to sell her a dodgy product to me. Funnily enough we were down the job centre today and saw a "debt advisor" job advertised - I looked at the description of the job and it clearly stated selling a range of financial products! I would prefer my debt advisor to not be trying to sell me anything!0

The question of being evicted from privately rented accommodation cropped up on another thread just recently. OR's can and sometimes do inform letting agents/landlords about BR, but my understanding is that it is rare for anyone to be evicted. But your friend should check her tenancy agreement to see if there is a clause excluding bankrupts...just in case.0
