Letter from Friends life anyone ?

Options
Hi all,

I've got home today to find a letter from a company called Friends Life asking me to verify various bits of information such as name /DOB / NI.

I've never heard of this company but it seems abit dodgy (all the info they want). I called them up and all they will tell me is that it could be related to a pension/ endowment etc but can't tell me more than that.

Has anyone else had this letter ? Is it genuine ? Or is is a phishing expedition ?

Cheers

Friends Life is a perfectly genuine company http://www88.friendsprovident.com/my_account/index.jhtml

Have you ever had a pension or endowment policy with Friends Life or any company with which there has been an amalgamation?

When you receive emails or post like this from any reputable company that you don't think you've done business with before, always go to the official company website (and not via a link on the email). Check that the number on the website matches the number you're asked to call and, if it doesn't, call the one on the website first.

Why does it sound dodgy? it sounds quite normal to me.

Friends Life is a major uk life assurance company that owns many brands. Friends Provident and AXA Sun Life being two major ones but they have others as well.
    Is it genuine ?

    yes

Cheers all - I'd just never heard of the company and was wary of giving personal details to someone I've never heard of and can't think what it would be about :0/
  • My main fund is with Friends Life, they bought out AXA whom I started the fund with.

I've got a web site access to check fund details. I suggest you get web access to whatever fund you have.. start by phoning one of their numbers and working from there..

They tracked down Mrs o4u who had a small money purchase company pension many years ago. It's now managed by Friends Life.

    The fund remains small.

Might be worth checking if you can transfer it to her current scheme. The fund may be small due to excessive charges.
