saw cheap tvs/dvds etc at cash convertors with 6 month guarantee , has anyone used these type of pawn shops? - prices may be cheap but is the stuff going to last longer than 6 months?
thanks

I've bought a few things from them - DVD recorder, DVD player (£6), Casio tv, slow cooker, etc and never had a problem.
I don't know if I'd buy anything of particularly high value though, just in case.0 -

Might be worth a punt at £50. The DVD player was a 2nd hand Alba but works fine while the DVD recorders are Crown, new graded stock with a 6 month warranty for £35. Again, I've had no problems.0 -
i buy bits and peices there, mainly cds, dvds things like that, had a dvd player from the local equivalent, cost £15 when they were still £40, it lasted ok (the drive went a bit noisy- the curse of cheap players), so bought a new one from asda (same thing happened, took it back), sold the one i bought from them back to them 2 years later for £6, its back in for £15!!!
you have to look over the stuff carefully, some of the tvs have had hard livesthings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

a lot of electricals have lost their value in recent years, so where a portable tv used to cost £150-£200, now they are £45-50 in tesco, so a £30 second hand one is debateable as to whether or not its a bargain. i would buy second hand appliances if what they were justified it, for example a sony/panasonic/toshiba tv second hand in the right condition is always a bargain if cheap, really well made and built to last. wouldn't pay ott for it, up to about £50 for a 21'' like mine, then if with one repair of about £40-£50 its lasts 5 years total, then its worth it.things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok
