I'm thinking of leaving Power NI, so its a choice of either Airtricity or Budget Energy. Is anyone with these companies and what experiences have you had?

I moved to Airtricity from PowerNI - move was reasonably straight forward. We have a topup card meter.
The only annoying this is that Airtricity don't have an app to topup and you can't topup online. If you want to topup you have to ring to talk to someone in office hours - which is a complete joke TBH.
Its enough for me to consider going back to PowerNI.0 -
Stay with NIE if you want good customer service and peace of mind.
Have moved back to NIE as billing by direct debit with Budget Energy is over -complicated and don't like paying for leckey that I have not yet received!0 -
I tried to move to Airtricity from NIE couple of years ago and would not recommend them to anyone. was told i had a 10 day cooling period (which i knew about already) and they would contact me after the 10 days was up. 2 weeks later nothing so i rang them and they brushed me off and said it would be another few weeks..... this went on for 3 months... constant phone calls to them with excuse after excuse and in the end i told them not to bother.. went to budget, 10 day cooling period and switched- no hassle whatsoever! then moved house, same again as was NIE and called budget- no problem again, straightforward switch and i use keypad top up over the internet!"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that!"0

So you never actually switched - You stopped the process within the cooling off period?0

if you read my post you will see i waited about 3 months for them to switch, well past the 10 day cooling period- i've since been told by airtricity who tried to sign me up down in my local b&q that the time i was signing up there were a heck of a lot of errors on their system causing the same problem as i had- and supposedly these had been resolved. but no i didnt stop the process within the cooling off period- they just didnt switch me... due to their "database error" despite me chasing them and getting an account number from them."Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. Did you switch to budget?0

yes, switched to budget after the 3 months of trying with airtricity after a recommendation from a family friend. called them up and the switch went through no problems, after the cooling period"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I get you now. I thought you went to switch to budget but went back to powerni before the 10 days were up.0
