Making your own tinted moisturiser

Does anyone do this? My friend has suggested this, mixing foundation with moisturiser for when you want a lighter make up and then using foundation as normal otherwise and it saves money.

Yes I do this all the time depending on what my skin is doing, you don't just have to use moisturiser, I have been known to use, brightner, wrinkle filler, mixing two types of foundation, different mixes for different parts of the face, its endless and very mse :)

  • Yep, it works really well, you just have to be careful the moisturiser you buy isn't too greasy :)

  • I put a little of each on the back of my hand, then mix with a foundation brush and paste on. It's really easy and can add brighteners etc when needed.

Don't do this if there are 'actives' in either product because ingredients can fight or break down (chemical sunscreens are particularly vulnerable), only if they are really neutral bases with very few ingredients. You can purchase moisturiser bases that are designed to take additions.

Just because others do it doesn't mean it is sensible or safe, I doubt many here have studied cosmetic science. You don't randomly mix prescription with pharmacy only drugs nor multiple different cleaning products to make a cocktail, this is not that different.
