Does mobile bill count towards credit rating?

Hi All,
I am in the middle of the application process for mortgage; my offer has been accepted and my application has been submitted.
At the same time there has been a huge problem with my phone bill as O2 forgot to upgrade my contract and my bill came through for £97!!
I contacted O2 who told me that they could not stop the payment going out but that I would be refunded on my next bill. Well, as you all know buying a house is an expensive process and I can't afford a £97 phone bill.
O2 therefore told me the only way round it would be to cancel my direct debit with the bank and then call up to make the correct payment after it has been amended.
What I am therefore wondering is whether if I cancel my direct debit with the bank this whilst my mortgage is being process if it might adversely effect my credit rating?
It's a difficult situation because I can't afford the £97 but I don't want to lose my house because of it!
Help!

If you cancel the DD it will be rejected and it will go on your credit record.
I wouldnt accept this from O2 at all inform them you can not afford the £97 and that you will not accept the bad credit rating for returning a Direct Debit.
They can if they want to credit your account now so that the £97 is a lesser amount....... of course this will only work if the payment isnt coming out for a few days.
If its due out today or tomorrow i think you should either borrow the £97 from a friend family etc or phone the bank and see if they can help.
If O2 do take the payment tell them you want a cheque not credit on your account.
