Application form questions

What are your thoughts on questions such as 'what personal skills would you like to improve?' on an application form? I ask because this feels like a significant area where putting the wrong thing could sway an employer from considering a candidate. Also, the common question of 'what are your weaknesses?' which always makes me internally cringe. I'm filling in a form right now with the former question and I'm considering what to say.
Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.

'what personal skills would you like to improve?' - think about what would help you perform better in the role for which you are applying, and put that! For example, if you feel that your presentation skills are weak, you could put that you'd like to do a course in public speaking. Think of the question as 'what training could we send you on which would help you do this job even better?' and then relate that to your personal life.
'what are your weaknesses?' - depending on your personality - showing too much passion for the job, or not being able to express adequately the passion you feel for your work! :rotfl:Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

What Is Your Biggest Weakness?
- Bit of a tricky question this, after all no one wants to show their weaknesses but we all have them. The most comprehensive way of dealing with this question is to try and turn it into a “positive” from a “negative”. So you could perhaps say “my biggest weakness is buying the kids sweets when they ask for them in the shop” or “I really dislike washing the car at the weekend but once I have done it I always feel a real sense of satisfaction”.
PS Thats you sorted for 4 hours then !!!!!:rotfl:0 -
How not to answer the weakness question.
Interviewer: What is your biggest weakness?
Candidate: Honesty.
Interviewer: I don't think that honesty is a weakness
Candidate: That's ok as I honestly don't give a **** what you think.Bedroom Tax / Spare room subsidy / Housing Benefit Reduction - It's the same thing, get over it.0
