Can I "revive" old cake?

I have found some cake in the cake tin which is about 2 weeks old. Can I revive this in any way or can I use it for "cakecrumbs" to add to the crumble topping? It is fine but just dry etc.....
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green

I've never tried it, but you could try steaming it in a bain marie type affair, or in a saucepan with a little bit of moisture, naybe a slice of orange or two, and gently heat from underneath with bubbling water. Might work.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

My gran always swore by giving it a quick blast in the microwave to revive stale cake/scones/etc. I don't know if it added moisture or you just didn't notice it being as dry when it was warm but always seemed to work. Usually on cakes that were a couple of days old rather than a couple of weeks. You might be beyond the point where it works.0

You could turn it into crumbs and make truffles.
Local bakers used to see something called Russian Cake, which was basically stale sponge cakes soaked in a syrup possibly with added dried fruit.
Unfortunately this link is missing the photos but the method should give you an idea of what it is.
There is always trifle as a possible use of stale cake.0 -
you can try placing a slice of bread in the tin, although this usually works with cakes that are a day or two stale, perhaps not a week or two.
Alternatively, you can try making those trendy cake balls. I believe the cake is crumbled into a bowl of icing, the two are mixed and the mixture is rolled into small balls which are dipped in chocolate or similar. I tried them once and found them too sweet, but they are a useful way to get rid of stale cake!0 -
