How to Increase my Annuity

Options
I asked the following question the other day

I have been thinking about this for a while now and can not find the answer.
What would prevent me from saying I smoke over 10 cigarettes a day to increase my a Pension Annuity, when I don’t smoke.

and a lot of you Neanderthals who replied got the question completely wrong. I do not work for the public service where you are guaranteed a pension I have worked in the private sector for over 30 years. My pension is not guaranteed and I have lead a healthy lifestyle also paying over 15% of my salary into the pension
It make a mockery when people choose to smoke receive a larger annuity and can also be fraudulent in the amount they may actually smoke (10 a day/min for 10 years min)

Now to the idiots put that in your pipe and smoke it

Oh sorry, i didn't realise this was a test. There was me thinking you wanted advice, when it was an exam. Silly me!

    Well done. Have a biscuit.

Yes, because they're going die sooner. Doesn't mean they receive more overall.

No they can't be fraudulent. Most insurers employ people to go and test you with a cotinene test. If you get found out, enjoy the price of other insurances magically going up too.
Now to the idiots put that in your pipe and smoke it

Well, at least i'll have a legitimate reason to claim a larger annuity.

I'm sure that you would need to be checked out by a doctor if you make this sort of claim. Any decent medic could see that you're not a smoker and you would be charged with fraud.
  • This got me thinking! I didn't smoke at all until I was 35 years of age! Like an idiot, I then got hooked through haing an odd one at parties and thinking I could stop when I wanted. I continued smoking for about 25 years (around 20 a day) but finally saw the light and gave up around 8 years ago. I haven't had one since the day I stopped. My question is:- Would I get an improved annuity because of my smoking years?

Possibly yes. Smoking history can lead to improved annuity rates.

If you retire in the next 2 years.

I think it could be a ten year history? But not sure. I am sure D does know.

And yes, I read the OP's orignal post and read it as a real question, form soneonce trying to scam the system. Not an exam set to us here from a numpty.
