Help - I wanna home theatre

Can anyone help?
I bought 5.1 Nicole speakers for home theatre system at savapoint - it had no sub woofer, but of course, I now know that I can't connect it to my dvd either as it was just the speakers. Doh... Didn't think before I bought! Can anyone tell me what I need to buy now to make the speakers work?

you need an amp! or if you are lucky you want to find a subwoofer with a built in amplifier
