Dress Fabric

Can anyone recommend markets or somewhere that has a huge selection of fabric in the south west?

Did think about paying a visit to London to Berwick Street as understand lots of fabric shops there.

Have been looking in local fabric shops but not found quite what I'm looking fore. Somewhere with a huge selection would be great.

It's donkey's years since I've been, but Walthamstow market used to be excellent for fabrics, as did Dalston Market.

Don' bother coming to London unless you know what your looking for and are prepared to pay the price!

I studied Textiles in London and the shops in Berwick St are nice but OMG so expensive! This was 10 years ago and even then I remember something pretty basic like calico costing in-excess of £15 a meter, some as much as £35 a meter (remember: 10 years ago, pre-recession means prices are most likely higher now), there are only a handful of fabric shops on the street by the way, yet the very same or similar fabrics are available elsewhere and cost 10% of that in markets and smaller fabric shops dotted around the East and West. I'd bet you could find even lower prices once your outside of London. If you want to travel anywhere, head to India and pick up fabrics there- much cheaper and much more luscious.
