Hi
I posted here yesterday, but no-one responded.
Has anyone had any success with getting Barclays / Central Debt Collections to agree to marking credit files with 'Satisfied in Full' once a Full and Final Settlement has been agreed?
Thanks

I have just posted above with a similar question. I haven't got the answer sorry, but pop over to https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk as there is an interesting discussion about whether companies have the right to leave the default informtion on file once it has been satisfied. There are template letters to refer to.
Can I ask if you paid them the full outstanding amount or a reduced amount?Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

That's funny I have just been reading your post! Thanks for the information I will go and have a look.
I am in negoitations for Full and Final Settlements of reduced amounts. I have been on a DMP since Sept 2004, so thought it was worth a go.
Barclays/ central Debt Collections have offered me 50% Full and Final but are refusing to mark the files as 'Settled in Full'. Have put a letter together today to them asking why they won't when other companies do. We'll see what happens - although am not v hopeful.0 -
Are they just going to mark the file as settled then!Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

They have said:
'However we must advise that the information that is registered on your credit file will not be marked as satisfied but we would not pursue you for the remainder of the balance.'

I rang Westcott last night and they told me the debt has been passed back to Barclays. They are only open until 5pm and I am at work till then.
How old is the default? If it is 2004 then it won't come off your file until 2010. I guess it depends what you are trying to achieve. As I said, I am trying to get a new mortgage!Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

The debt goes back to 2004. Ideally we need to remortgage, so I would like the debt to show settled in full. We'll see what they say to my letter asking why they won't.
There are a couple of new threads on here relating to Full and Finals, will keep an eye on those in case anyone offers some further advice.0 -
