Heya, very sorry to hear about your loss.
It sounds like you will do really well working in the care sector. You'll have great experience and a solid understanding of all the key principle of the sector. So don't underestimate yourself!

Also, it might be worth checking out what care facilities and agencies exist in the area of the country you're in. They may have jobs or volunteer opportunities going. Or you might find they are responsive to just giving you some useful advice.

You will be able to supply a personal/character reference, and this isn't that uncommon. Many care sector roles including support worker/care assistants/ health care etc offer NVQ or equivalent on the job training0
