Looking to buy house with partner

Hi guys,

Our current landlord has informed us that she's selling the house so we need to move.

Now we're currently thinking that we should get a house of our own. I went br nearly 2 years ago and halfway through my ipa.

Now I'm aware that I'm very unlikely to get a mortgage but was wondering if my income would be considered when he applies for a mortgage.

And I'd also like equal ownership of the house as we'll both be paying the mortgage (will be less than the rent we currently pay) but as I'm not on the mortgage is there something I can do that will legally make the house half mine?

And finally, will this affect my br in any way, the fact that I'll potentially half-own a house.

Thanks.

Sorry, can't help with most of your questions but I think you can get both names put on the house deeds...someone with far more knowledge than me will be along in a minute :)

If you are not on the mortgage and you are not married then your contributions towards his mortgage would mean diddly squat unfortunately.

You would need to be making a joint mortgage application for your income to be included. Not much chance of that happening 2 years after bankruptcy. Save as much money as you can for a deposit and try later on down the line if you want to make a joint application.

I am going to apply this summer for a joint mortgage but this is 6 years after bankruptcy and my credit files are looking a lot healthier.

Not exactly....by sharing the home, and contributing to the running costs..[and being able to prove and 'intention' of shared ownership], the OP will, over a short time, acquire beneficial interest in the value of the property.

A marriage certificate has little to do with it.

    'Intention' does.
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......
