  • Sorry I didn't realise about Countrywide - well, I knew they were a broker but wasn't sure how to explain that.

No one's asked about adverse credit history and there's not been anywhere to bring it up. I was thinking about making an appointment and discussing it with the broker?

According to Experian I have 1 default and a Fair credit score.

Thank you all for your help.

Seeing a broker (not countrywide) is probably the best thing you can do.

I might be wrong but i dont think many (if any) high street lenders would look at this.

  • OK, thank you for that - you've been really helpful, and made it much more accessible for me to understand. I'll have a look for a local broker then so we've got a backup.

One of those advantages about being behind a computer is that at least I'm not upset in front of someone. Now I just have to keep it together to tell my partner.

What is there to be upset about?

If you couldnt get a mortgage, we would say so. If anything you should be happy, as there is a chance you can get a mortgage. Probably not at the 2-3% interest rate you see advertised everywhere but that doesnt mean you cant get a mortgage.

Think positive, get a good broker and you should hopefully be ok.

  • Oh! I thought you were saying it probably wouldn't be possible!

You have no idea how much you've helped, really it's been getting me more and more anxious worrying about this.
