Interview issues.

Hi, i'm just wanting some advice on this matter.

I have an interview which is rather short notice (under the required notice period for leave from current job).

I'll just run through some things, I'm currently working in a contact centre, I have a degree so I am wanting to start my career more than anything.

I'm working through a recruitment agency who I have had a lot of trouble with, i.e. underpayment, not responding to my calls/e-mails, and setting up appointments which I have to go in early for my shift to attend to be told if I want to see the recruitment agent it would have to come out on my dinner (which is only 30 mins as it is)

So I'm sure you can imagine when I got invited to an interview for what would be a dream job, I'm not going to turn this down.

My problem is, I would have to call to let the agency know I won't be coming in.

I have to have a day off sick previously (due to them forcing in staff with norovirus taking down almost everyone in the team) and when you do this you are harassed with threatening phone calls saying you will be sacked if you don't come in ect.

Would it be worth being honest with them and informing them of my interview? (which isn't local so going to work afterwards wouldn't be possible) Would there be any repercussions?

Thanks in advance.

Can you not book a day's holiday? - If you have worked there for 12 weeks or more, then you are entitled to some of the same conditions of employment as a permanent member of staff.

And it sounds like your agency is horrendous. Do you have a good chance of getting the role, if so, I'd be honest with the agency and say you need a day off to attend an interview for a permanent position outside of the agency - and if they behave in a manner which is anything but professional, that might be a good signal to look for another agency!

If worst comes to worst, you can always register with another agency and get somewhere else - I've been a temp on and off for over 10 years and have dealt with my fair share of bad recruitment consultants, but that other local agencies know how bad they are and are usually very happy to take you off their hands! They seem to be of the opinion that if you can work for them, you can work for anyone.

Hope it gets resolved, but I wouldn't call in sick as this could travel with you on references etc.

    Thank you for your response!

We're given a 7 days notice period to be given holidays, the company would automatically reject this request as it's too short notice.

This is where some of my issues have come from also, I recently took leave (and with the bank holidays this took up my leave too) and they have taken all my hours but paid me a considerable amount less, I don't know if this would be to my advantage as I am either owed hours or owed money.

I am inclined to tell them I am going for this interview for the bombardment of phone calls I will get from the agency after I have been waiting over two weeks for a call back regarding my pay.
