Photographer Southport

We are having a small wedding in 4/5/13 (yes I know I am cutting it fine :rotfl:) , but we have both been married before and the last thing we want is another wedding album gathering dust in the loft.

We originally said we wouldn't bother with a photographer , but as it is very near now , I am beginning to think I want some decent pics of the day , especially my little granddaughters who are flower girls , and just some nice reminders of the day without the whole line up shots.
I am wary of contacting photographers and mentioning "wedding " as it isn't really a wedding package we want. I would be happy with disc only and we could even just pick a few of that.

I know I can contact some and discuss what I would like , but thought I would see if anyone has any recommendations first. Obviously I don't want to spend a fortune as its only really a smallish number of pictures we actually want.

  • Most, if not all photographer's now will do a disc only package. The cost of which will comprise of their time and business expenses. Ie. you don't pay for the album.

If you look on Facebook groups you will find a plethora of photographers. Most will be happy to do a shoot and burn for you.

The thing to remember though is that you may only want a small number of photographs. But the photographer still has to turn up, pay for his overheads, taxes etc. So you may only want him for an hour and say 10 photos. But the cost is likely to be a fixed fee rather than the cost per photo. Plus given digital cameras nowadays, the extra cost between taking 10 photos and 100 and burning to a disc is next to nothing.

The short notice may be an issue for some photographers who may already be booked. But the other side of the coin is that if that date is free for them then it's unlikely to be taken by now. Usually the last minute ones only come in like this when their original photographer has let them down.

    Hope that helps

It may be worth having a look on gumtree, I found both my photographers on there (one paid for, one free). It does take some time to sort the wheat from the chaff, and there may be a dozen adverts for the same person, but I found many more cheaper options there. We met 3 photographers before going on gumtree, one didn't bring any pics at all, one showed us their pics on an iphone, both of those didn't get back to us after offering to send an email with more info, and one just wasn't very enthusiastic. If you're not so fussed about the "official" pics, it may be worth getting someone for free that wants to build their portfolio.
