Is State Pension only paid in full weeks?

Say someone reaches State Retirement Age on Monday 6th May, the pension is paid in arrears and the assigned payday is Friday. It looks as though they will be cheated out of 5 day's pay because the first full week will be Sat 11th - Fri 17th. Seems a bit mean to me.:(

If you make sure you die on the right day you could collect your pension for six days after your death. That should make up for it!
