Doing own make up-any reccomendations?

Options
Hi I get married in 6 weeks and after hassle with make up artists I've decided to do my own make up!
What products would people suggest? I'm especially looking for reccomendations on-
waterproof mascara
something to minimise pores
great concealor for dark under eye circles
something to make my make up last

I don't want to spend a fortune but willing to pay for worthwhile items.

Any help would be great!x

Pore minimisation will require a good primer - there are plenty in the market and deciding which will depend on skin type. However, thrifty me suggest you go and buy Monistat anti chafe gel, it's pretty much identical to smash box primers ;)

A great concealer for dark circles is going to require a two pronged approach: a salmony colour to disguise the colouring, then a light highlighting ysl touch! !clat style pen thing for over the top. For the concealer, I like benefits erase paste.

Something to make your make up last will again require a two pronged approach, fortunately, the primer is one of them so you will be half way there with the pore disguising. On top of make up, I like urban decays sprays - there are several to choose from, i personally use 'oil slick' to keep oil at bay however, 'all nighter' may be up your street a little more.

I recommend going in to debenhams and trying these products before buying, don't let the sales girls bully you into going mad, stick to your list, always try the item and walk out and let it sit in your face for the rest of the day to see if you like it before buying. And the reason I recommend debenhams is because of the beauty club (if you aren't a member, sign up in store) as if you spend £40 you get £5 of free points at the moment and they carry all the brands I suggested.

Finally, checkout some YouTube tutorials for hints and tips (there are some brilliant people out there! look at face contouring too!) and practice the make up in advance. also, get someone to take some snaps of your face during the trials to see how they turn out on camera. HD powder for instance is terrible under flash light (looks like you've been doing drugs lol!). You have been warned; however, good lack and I hope you have an awesome day :)

I dont have any pore minimisers in mind as I dont use one myself. Depending on your skin and wether you want light or full coverage foundation, for light coverage I would suggest Mac Face & Body, full coverage Mehron Celebre HD foundation, both fondations look amazing when pictures are taken, it gives a complete air brush affect. To make your makeup last all day set it with Ben Nye Banana powder which people do samples of on several websites such as eBay... Its a highly raved product and lives up to what it states on the bottle. For concealer I would reccomend Mac Studio Finish concealer (find a NW shade which will be a salmony tone) mixed with Bobbi Brown concealer. I have hereditary dark circle's and both these products for under eyes do a great job. (Btw I dont use a under eye cream because it sucks up all the product, I know it sounds stupid but I find not using it makes me concealer stay on way longer).

ELF do really good blushers/brozners from their Studio line, and there is a range of different colors. Check Google for swatches and Youtube for technqiues etc
  • Might be an idea to go to cosmetic counters and ask them for a free makeover with tips on products to buy - you can do this in any department store and its a good way to try make up without necessarily having to buy it!

I'm thinking of doing this for my wedding as I'd prefer to do my own make up.

Was going to suggest this as I've heard particularly good things about the Bobbi Brown counters' wedding make-up service - haven't done it myself but went to their counter at Oxford Street John Lewis for a foundation consultation a few months back and they were great, so I'm strongly considering going back when I'm looking at buying my wedding make-up. And it's free, which is always a bonus :)
